eeePC model: 900
Aurora version: Base 3.0
EEEbuntu is primarily targeted at Asus EEEpc's however it can also be configured to run beautifully on a Dell mini 9. I was supper stoked to get a mini for 200$ USD in hindsight I should have opted for the Dell Vostro (same thing in black and a better deal in terms of storage) The factory Ubunutu worked great until I updated it and then it got full before the update completed and started acting like a slug. A 4gb SSD is not a lot to work with but it should be plenty for Linux if I could squeeze XP on my eee900. switching to base 3 was easy a few kinks had to be worked out. here is what I learned.
1. could not boot from SD slot (removable media in BIOS) instead I use a external USB CD/DVD or card reader.
2. after install and restart you will be prompted to install updates. IMPORTANT: unchecked updates that fall under the heading "other" these seem to be EEE specific and will make your wireless not work. (if anyone can offer more details thats awesome) after I updated I turned off updates, (NOTE!:do this at you own risk) 3. configuring audio and Skype proved tricky, make sure speaker is turned up. Open volume control> preferences> check input source options and make sure front mic is selected. (at some point I will give a better tutorial)
I am please to report everything works awesome thank you so much EEEbuntu team and contributors also tanks to the folks at http://www.ubuntumini.com/
